They're digging a hole in the middle of my village and when I say a hole I don't refer to one of those ones with four blokes with pick axes holes but one with a large thing like an oil drill or rocket launcher attached to it. Incidentally have you noticed how many people are digging up the road at this time of year... they always say it's the year end spending up of the councils' money but I'm sure that can't be true.
Anyhow the hole in the middle of Mytholmroyd is now taking on epic proportions as somebody today told me it was going to be 500m's deep and that men were tunneling under the river.
All I know is that it is supposed to be part of the flood aleviation scheme so that when the river floods it has somewhere to go.
That's what they told me but that doesn't sound right either.
Wouldn't it be great if every workman wore a t-shirt explaining what they were doing... then we would really know.
I bet they would say things like "Yup, we're digging a hole!"
Then again Vicars could have t-shirts folowing on from St Augustine with: "filling the God shaped hole" on it.
